August 20 - August 22, 2021
@ The Financial Gym
We're hosting the first Afford Anything LIVE IN-PERSON EVENT in New York City on August 20!!!! 🎉🎊✨🥳
Here's our idea for an epic, eye-opening weekend with the community in which we all figure out the life portion of money and life.
On Friday, we gather at a gorgeous venue in Manhattan to meet and mingle over delicious food and an open bar.
On Saturday, we buckle down into a workshop in which we figure out the next 10 years. How do we start with the end in mind? What end are we trying to achieve? We cap off with a fantastic group dinner.
On Sunday, we enjoy hot seats in which participants share how they will apply what they learned this weekend to their lives and get feedback.
Pretty awesome, right? Check out the full details below.

When and where is this retreat?!
The weekend of August 20 - 22, 2021, at The Financial Gym: 134 W 25th St 2nd Floor, New York, NY 10001
Is food included in my ticket?
All of your food is covered except for lunch on Saturday. We wanted to give you some freedom to enjoy a restaurant. =)
Here's the breakdown: Friday includes appetizers and happy hour drinks; Saturday includes breakfast (food & beverage), snacks, happy hour drinks, and dinner on-site; Sunday includes breakfast (food & beverage) and lunch.
What type of food will be served?
We'll determine this closer to the event. We'll try to include a variety of options, but you're welcome to head out on your own or bring some snacks if you have allergies or sensitivities.
Will there be time for Q&A?
Yes! There will be a chance for Q&As with Paula on Saturday and Sunday. We just ask that your questions relate directly to the material covered over the weekend.
What exactly will I get out of this retreat?
Besides a lot of fun and new friendships, clarity! We're designing worksheets for you with this purpose in mind. We'll help you get crystal clear on your dreams for financial independence, and how to turns those dreams into a reality.
Why this topic, though?
We've noticed that questions from community members often come from a lack of clarity. "I want to do X, Y, and Z! But how do I manage all of it??" is a sign that you're not prioritizing. And how can you prioritize when you aren't clear on what you want to do and when?
Our worksheets and workshops will prompt you with the right questions to think about. No more second-guessing your plans or feeling like you're pulled in 10 different directions.
(Of course, we can't guarantee results. The more you put into this, the more you'll get out of it. At the very least, we're aiming to provide you with a lot of great food for thought -- things people don't think about when planning their future.)
Who is this retreat for?
This retreat is for anyone looking to form or refine a financial independence plan. Whether you're brand new to the world of financial independence retire early (FIRE), or you've been on the path but aren't sure where you're going, this retreat is for you.
This retreat is meant for anyone looking to supercharge or jump start their FIRE plan. We'll walk you through a bunch of scenarios that you need to consider in your planning.
What COVID-19 precautions are being taken?
We recognize that you might have concerns or uncertainty - we do, too! We are closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation and will follow the guidance issued by the CDC and state of New York for live events. We will also follow any guidelines the venue has. Attendees will receive an email in the week leading up to the event with the latest information. Do you offer discounts?
If you're a YFRP alumni, then yes -- check your email! Otherwise, no discounts are available.
Are lodging and transportation included?
Lodging and transportation are not included. We're inviting attendees who are relatively local to the city for this reason. =)
I want to stay near The Financial Gym. Do you have a list of nearby hotels?
Here's a list of nearby hotels and Airbnbs. (Please note that we do not have any blocks booked. Accommodation is not part of the ticket, nor do we personally endorse these hotels. We're simply making it easier for you to find a place to stay!)
What kind of parking is nearby?
You can check SpotHero or ParkWhiz.
Can I volunteer?
Yes! We're accepting volunteers. You can find all of the details here! If you're interested, apply via this form by August 6.

Each ticket includes coffee, tea, and breakfast for Saturday and Sunday, dinner for Saturday, lunch for Sunday, and happy hour for Friday and Saturday. You get exclusive access to our team, our amazing community, and you can ask Paula questions by going in a hot seat. I registered! What next?
Please check your inbox for a confirmation email. All communication about the event and specific actions needed from you to prepare for the event is sent via email. If you don’t receive any emails from us about the event, please email support [at] affordanything [dot] com.
Is anything happening before or after the event?
As this is our first-ever live event, our priority is making your experience awesome. To maintain that focus, our team isn’t hosting anything before or after the event, but you're more than welcome to put out a call to meet people outside of the event!
How many tickets are available?
The venue capacity is 85, so that is the amount of tickets we have available. This is a super intimate experience, and we can't wait to share it with you!
I'm local and just want to meet Paula. Can I drop by during the event?
No. Tickets will not be available at the door, and to respect our venue's capacity limit, we ask that you please refrain from dropping by.
I have more questions. Who can I contact?
support [at] affordanything [dot] com. We'll get back to you within 24 hours Monday - Friday.
Will the retreat be recorded or streamed?
No, we aren't recording this. Our sole focus is on the attendees, and providing a livestream would disrupt the experience. If the event goes well, we might host more in different cities!
Will there be opportunities to get to know other community members?
Yes! We’ll have a happy hour on both Friday and Saturday. The purpose of Friday’s happy hour is to mingle with other attendees. Breaks taken on Saturday will provide you with more opportunities to speak to those around you. Our event space is awesome and we’ll have about four or five people to a table, so you’ll get to know your neighbors. =)
What does the ticket pay for?
The ticket price goes toward our event space, food, drink, taxes, planning costs, worksheets, and paying our staff. The processing fee covers our exact cost to process your payment.
I need to book a flight; when does the retreat start and end?
We kick off with happy hour at 6 pm on Friday, August 20th. We’ll end with lunch at 2 pm on Sunday, August 22nd.
Can I speak at this event, or suggest a speaker?
For this first-ever live event, we’re keeping it simple. Paula is curating and leading all of the workshops. If this changes in the future, we’ll ask for speakers!
Do I need to print my tickets, or can I download an app?
Our registration platform has an app that we plan to use! You can download your QR code on this app and we can scan it on-site. More details will follow in an email closer to the event.
